Renew Your Notary Public (Ages 18 & Up)

Renewing notaries are required to take a three-hour approved notary refresher course and notary exam; this class will satisfy that requirement. Notary commission must not be expired. No refund for late arrival. 

Exam information: 

The exam is scheduled on March 21, 2026 at 4 pm in BU 120. 

Register for the exam from 4:00-4:30pm.
Exam is from 4:45-6pm. 
For the exam, both new and renewing Notaries need to bring the following:
  • A $40 check made payable to “Secretary of State”
  • Proper ID-current driver license or state issued ID card (must be a legal California resident)
  • Two #2 pencils
  • 2” X 2” passport color photo.
Live Scan fingerprints will be required after you pass the exam. Serious convictions may disqualify applicants. Must be 18+ years of age. Fingerprints required after you pass the exam. Arrive early, no one admitted after class begins. No refunds for late arrival.
