T’ai Chi Essentials, Level # 1
The soft, flowing movements of Tai Chi help people of all ages tone the
body, increase concentration, and improve circulation. Gentle turning and
shifting movements relieve stress and exercise every part of the body
without strain. Tai Chi energizes the body and calms the mind while
improving balance and flexibility. This introductory class is fun and helps
students learn Essentials of Tai Chi. This includes gentle stretching
exercises and the basics of posture, breathing, stance, stepping, turning,
and individual techniques. Basic techniques are learned in preparation
for incorporating them into the Solo Exercise in the next class. For a

Richard Ahrens has studied Tai Chi, Chi Gung,
and Silk Reeling (Ssu Chih) with masters from China
and the U.S. He has taught Tai Chi to hundreds
of students across the U.S. since 1985.
